Why Robert Kraft Should Be Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Pro Football Hall of Fame

Robert Kraft is known for being many things, including a hugely successful entrepreneur and one of the wealthiest men in the United States. He is perhaps most notable for being the owner of the New England Patriots. Since acquiring the team in 1994, the Patriots have been to the playoffs 22 times, have won countless division championships, and brought home Super Bowl victories six times, among other accomplishments.

Because of that exceptional performance, many are speculating that Robert Kraft could be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as soon as next year. This would be notable for a wide range of reasons, all of which are worth exploring.

Robert Kraft’s Path to Victory: Breaking Things Down

Part of the reason why people believe that Robert Kraft could be inducted has to do with something that occurred at the 2022 ceremony. Richard Seymour was one of the people who were enshrined in the Hall of Fame and, during his speech, Seymour specifically called out Robert Kraft and gave his appreciation for all that he had done – including “being a mentor and a dear friend.”

Note that Kraft is already considered a finalist for induction in 2023, which in and of itself is no short order. He was picked ahead of a laundry list of coaches and various contributors, all of whom have their own notable accomplishments.

Robert Kraft would be recognized for all of the things that he was able to accomplish as the owner of the Patriots that others could not. It has been said that no other owner in the history of not just football but professional sports has been able to transform their team quite like Kraft did with the Patriots. His tenure even began at a precarious time for the team, when it was said that they were considering a move to St. Louis. Not only did Kraft pledge to keep the team in New England – which he did – but he also helped to turn them into what many see as the greatest dynasty in all of NFL history.

Robert Kraft was born in Brookline, Massachusetts and always loved professional football and the Patriots in general. After attending public schools for most of his young life, he attended Columbia University on a full academic scholarship. He graduated in 1963 and then moved onto Harvard Business School, where he received his Master’s Degree in business administration.

However, his tenure with the Patriots didn’t begin there. Instead, in 1968, he founded a packaging company. In 1972, he founded International Forest Products because he was able to recognize the importance that forest products would play in one’s ability to thrive in the then-developing global economy.

That organization has long since evolved into his namesake, the Kraft Group. This holding company has assets in a wide range of different industries including paper and packaging, sports, entertainment, real estate, private equity and more.

Note that in addition to his presence in the sports and business worlds, Robert Kraft and his family members are also known for being one of the leading philanthropic-focused families in the world. They are constantly devoting their time and attention to a plethora of different charities and non-profit organizations. Just a few of the causes that they’ve supported over the years include but are not limited to those in sectors like education, healthcare, child issues, women’s issues, and others. Robert Kraft is also a Trustee Emeritus of Columbia University.

In 989, Robert Kraft helped to launch the Passport to Israel Fund in association with the Center for Jewish Progress of Greater Boston. Its goal is a simple one: it aims to help teenagers who want to visit Israel for the first time make that happen. One notable project that the organization has helped with since its founding involved offering support for American Football Israel.

From the moment he graduated from college, it has been clear that Robert Kraft’s main passion has always been in building something meaningful. Sometimes, that means the relationships of the people around him – including those who he collaborates with in his professional life and those who are near and dear to him in his personal one. Sometimes, that means building the New England Patriots into the dominating force in the sports world that they are today. This, coupled with his undeniable integrity, have been major contributing factors to the success that he has enjoyed up to this point.

At this point, many consider Robert Kraft’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame to be little more than a formality for 2023. Whether or not it happens remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: it would be a prestigious honor for a man who has already given so much to the team that he loved since childhood.
